This is a photograph of Olympic Marathon winner
Thomas Hicks posing with his trophies.
This picture was taken the day after the race
after all the drugs had worn off and Hicks had time to recuperate.
This was the first Olympics where Gold, Silver,
and Bronze medals were awarded.
The trophy was the valued prize during these games.

Photograph scanned from the book Chronicles of the Olympics.
